LVMPD to replace emergency call taking system with Airbus’ VESTA 9-1-1 solution

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has selected Airbus DS Communications to modernise the city’s emergency call taking system.

As part of the ten-year agreement, the Airbus Defense and Space entity will install its VESTA 9-1-1 solution, which includes 106 call taking positions responding to the around 3.5 million emergency and non-emergency calls received every year.

The agreement includes implementation, support services, as well as full system modernisation.

LVMPD Radio Systems Bureau director Michael Barnbeck said: "We know our new system will ensure the safety of our citizens and the 42 million tourists who visit us every year.

"We have the right building block for next generation technology for our community."

Airbus DS Communications Sales vice-president Mike Pavick said: "What is truly exciting for us is knowing that LVMPD is on the right path and is embracing the future of public safety communications."

Featuring a number of expanded capabilities to increase the effectiveness of the city’s 9-1-1 operations, the VESTA 9-1-1 has a geo diverse configuration, which makes it more robust in the case of a localised failure.

The VESTA 9-1-1 Activity View module is a powerful management tool designed to offer real-time insights into call volume, call duration and response times, among many others.

The VESTA Analytics MIS solution is expected to provide LVMPD with advanced data mining capabilities so that supervisors know how their call centre is performing at all times.

Airbus DS Communications’ Managed Services is scheduled to remotely monitor LVMPD’s VESTA 9-1-1 system 24/7 to ensure every piece is functioning at full capacity.
