Kvichak delivers Patrol 28 vessel to Boston Police Department Harbor Unit

The Boston Police Department Harbor Unit (BPD) has received the Patrol 28 all-aluminum vessel from Kvichak Marine Industries.

Designed by Kvichak/Amgram and built by Kvichak Marine, the Patrol 28 is capable of supporting a range of operations such as search and rescue, border patrol and maritime security in port and coastal waters as well as in shallow areas.

Capable of cruising at speeds over 45k with capacity for 458lt of fuel, the Patrol 28 has been designed based on the offshore raiding craft from Holyhead Marine for the UK Royal Marines.

The Patrol 28 boat is powered by twin Honda 225hp VTEC outboards and features shockwave suspension seats, Furuno electronics package, enclosed deckhouse, tow bitts and wing D-shaped inflatable fendering.

Fendering system will enable the vessel to absorb shock and provide protection from damage when alongside other vessels.

The small coastal patrol vessel has a beam of 3.2m and a draught of 81cm and is also integrated with foredeck to allow easy boarding for the crew.

Additionally, the 9.7m-long vessel provides steady seakeeping capability with exceptional manoeuvring characteristics.

Under the Patrol 28 programme, Amgram worked with Kvichak Marine and provided the hull design and contributed to the concept to develop a low cost production build strategy.
