IAI installs first secured border crossing in Argentina

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), through its Electronic Defense Group ELTA Systems (IAI/ELTA), has successfully completed the first part of secured border crossing installation at La Quiaca in Argentina.

The border control systems were delivered to the Argentinean Home Security Ministry for use by the Gendarmeria, Argentina's border guard.

The installation is part of a contract awarded to IAI for the provision of border control systems for four border crossings characterised by different topologies.

The border control systems package provided by IAI/ELTA include a large-scale, integrated ground system with various radars, EO/IR and additional surveillance sensors, communication systems, command and control systems.

IAI Land Systems executive vice-president major general (retired) Gadi Shamni said: "The integration of IAI's intelligence tools provides Argentina with a novel approach to border control and grappling with multiple challenges faced by many countries.

“IAI's land systems offer a range of strategic and tactical solutions targeting multiple threats. We combine technological expertise, advanced communication solutions and innovative operational concepts into a comprehensive solution."

IAI/ELTA will carry out the next border crossings installation at Salvador Mazza, Aguas Blancas and Puerto Iguazu.

The next phases of installation will also include provision of unmanned aerial systems, including several BirdEye650D small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS), several mini-UAV BirdEye400, HoverMast100 systems and a range of other sensors, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance vehicles (ELI-3302 Granite ISRV).
