The US Department of the Navy had awarded a contract to General Dynamics (GD) Information Technology, under which the company will deliver information technology (IT) and mission sustainment services to the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (NAVMETOCCOM).

The three-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a maximum potential value of $27.1m, if all options are exercised.

Under the contract, a complete range of IT services will be provided by the company to render support for NAVMETOCCOM systems, software and infrastructure.

The company will also utilise its expertise in portal design, development and integration to support the Navy Enterprise Portal, Oceanography.

GD Information Technology, Health and Civilian Solutions Division senior vice president Marcus Collier said the company will extend its skills and expertise in creating a robust, well-integrated IT infrastructure for the command.

"We will continue to support the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command as it provides information to warfighters that helps them prepare for specific battlespaces and assess environmental factors that could impact their missions," Collier added.

The command enables military, scientific and civilian communities to access critical oceanography information.
