BAE wins NGA’s Information Store contract

BAE has been awarded Information Store (iSToRE) contract by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to deliver sophisticated data management capabilities in support of the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG).

Claimed to be the NSG’s knowledge management solution, iSToRE consolidates, stores, and archives geospatial intelligence products and enables easy access to data to multiple agencies and defence commands across the globe.

Work under the contract involves upgrading the iSToRE by integrating BAE’s GXP Xplorer data management software app that enables analysts to easily connect to and query remote geospatial data stores and libraries, as well as rapidly locate, retrieve, and share data across the enterprise.

BAE Systems Geospatial eXploitation Products (GXP) general manager Rex Ballard said: "NSG analysts face the time-consuming challenge of searching through ever-increasing amounts and types of data.

"GXP Xplorer allows analysts to quickly search through millions of records and zero in on the right piece of data, enabling them to generate finished products that drive actionable intelligence."

Operating on several hardware platforms ranging from handheld devices and ruggedised laptops to enterprise servers and virtualised cloud environments, GXP Xplorer will search through infinite information to detect and catalogue images, terrain, features, videos, as well as documents on local networks or across an enterprise.

The software licenses will be used globally to support the agency’s shift from legacy image product libraries to commercial-based data storage facilities.
