Austal to support patrol vessels of Oman Police Coast Guard

The Sultanate of Oman’s National Ferries Company (NFC) has awarded a fleet maintenance services contract to Austal after a successful competitive tender.

The 12-month contract will involve providing support and maintenance services to the Royal Oman Police Coast Guard’s two 52m-long patrol vessels, including three high speed vehicle-passenger ferries and one landing craft.

The contract will also enable the company to boost its support capability by setting up maintenance facilities in the ports of Khasab and Shinas in Oman.

NFC currently operates two high speed ferries namely, Shinas and Hormuz, which were built by Austal in 2008.

Hormuz has recorded a maximum speed of 56.3k and Shinas 55.9k, to date.

Austal had recently completed a three-year vessel maintenance services agreement in October this year.

The company also has offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as well as a regional service centre in Muscat.
