AS&E to deliver ZBV(R) systems to Middle East and African government agencies

The Middle East and African government agencies have ordered American Science and Engineering’s (AS&E) Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV(R)) cargo and vehicle screening systems for counterterrorism operations.

AS&E president and CEO Anthony Fabiano said the contract proves ZBV system’s ability to effectively and safely detect threats, explosives, and contraband.

"With its maneuverability, flexibility and ability to reveal terrorist threats and contraband, our ZBV system is an invaluable tool for counterterrorism operations," Fabiano added.

Based on the X-ray detection technology, the cargo and vehicle inspection system is a low-cost, highly mobile screening system built into a commercially available delivery van.

Enabling quick deployment to address security threats, the system’s high throughput capability facilitates fast inspections.

Introduced in 2003, more than 625 systems have been sold to over 125 different customers in 57 countries.

The ZBV system is used by major government agencies, border authorities, military bases, law enforcement departments and security agencies across the globe.

The system is also available in C-Class and S-Class configurations to meet various needs of customers.
