AS&E to deliver X-ray screening systems to Middle East Government Agency

American Science and Engineering (AS&E) has been awarded a $5.2m contract by a Middle East Government Agency to deliver cargo and parcel X-ray systems for VIP security.

AS&E’s President and CEO Anthony Fabiano said, "Together with our customer, we are working to provide a full-range of solutions for this government agency to screen vehicles, parcels, and site perimeters for VIP security in the Middle East."

"In the past 15 years, we’ve sold over 500 systems in the Middle East and we are very proud of our ongoing effort in the region to help secure environments and detect trade fraud, threats, and contraband," Fabiano added.

The company’s products portfolio includes cargo inspection systems for port and border security, baggage screening systems for facility and aviation security, and personnel and passenger screening systems.

To protect high-threat facilities, AS&E systems uses X-ray threat detection for plastic explosives, plastic weapons, liquid explosives, dirty bombs and nuclear devices.

In addition to assisting in combating terrorism, the systems are also used to counter trade fraud, drug smuggling, weapon smuggling, illegal immigration, and people smuggling.

AS&E customers include government agencies, border authorities, military bases, airports and corporations across the globe, including the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), US Department of Defense (DoD).

The firm also caters to the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), UK Border Agency (UKBA), Hong Kong Customs, and Abu Dhabi Customs.
