Applied DNA Sciences contracted to deliver SigNature DNA products to US agency
Applied DNA Sciences (APDN) has been contracted by a US government agency to deliver its SigNature DNA products.
The new $2.5m contract is a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) with a period of performance of 1 April 2016 through 31 March 2021.
Under the five-year contract, the company will sell standard products and develop new units and solution at an accelerated deployment pace compared with traditional contract-development paths.
The company's DNA-tracing technologies will provide the US government with a robust Safeguards response to help deal with the issues associated with the supply chain for mission critical infrastructure components.
APDN chairman, president and CEO Dr. James Hayward said: "Our performance record at the federal level speaks for itself and is one of our best selling tools.
"As our reputation spreads within and across agencies, as engaged creative solution providers and partners, we gain new federal customers. This BPA will allow rapid deployment with new applications without the need to negotiate individual contracts. We are thrilled to continue to be of service to our government."
The blanket purchase agreement can be described as a simple acquisition method that is used by government agencies to fill the possible recurring needs for supplies and/or services.
Once the BPA is established, repeat purchases become quite easy for both parties involved.
